We did it. We've moved from a lovely suburban cul-de-sac, to a 10 acre property in the country. With hubby and young twin boys in tow, we are going to shake up the countryside. Their lives will continue on much the same, but mine will be changing drastically. (Literally keeping the home fires blazing...how difficult could that be?)
Me, I'm an urban designer... I know, what was I thinking? Displaced. Dislocated. Dysfunctional?

Nope! I've got plans for this space.
I'm trading in my train pass for a muddy car, and my business lunch shoes for rubber boots. I'm planning on doing a lot of the smaller jobs myself, and only hiring out for bigger things that will require machinery. If you stick around, you will see me transform a two story, 'very rustic' beaten up board and batten house into a warm, modern home for our family. Along the way, you can share in our trials and tribulations and learn from our mistakes. (I'm sure to make a few).

We'll start out slow, with some paint, grout and caulk. But soon enough I will be bricking a focal wall, texturing another with Behr texture paint and painting a LOT of wood panelling! By summertime, I hope to add a front sunroom addition and clean and paint the exterior!

But first, survival. I wasn't kidding when I said big changes! Feeling displaced doesn't make heat...fire does. I'm off to the pine forest now to cut some firewood. Better put on my rubber boots!
